In Russia the bayan, or button-accordion, has been responsible for a distinct sound development and a culture of virtuosity. Efim Jourist was one of the most outstanding international Bajan virtuoso in classical and modern music. He died in 2007, but his passionate musicality, his enjoyment of life and his compositions live on in the Jourist Quartett. Comprising bayan, violin, guitar and double bass, the quartett is playing Russian concert tango. The compositions of Jourist combine melodies of the Russian soul with South American rhythms.

In this concert the Quartett is playing the eight Tango season, concisting of the four Russian seasons by Efim Jourist and the Argentinian seasons of Astor Piazzolla.
